Building Project

The Janesville Public Library is growing and needs your help

The Janesville Public Library has outgrown its residence on 227 Main Street, where it has been a community home for education and entertainment since 1974. Using the lifetime savings of our library reserves, we have purchased the building at 319 Main Street

This location will triple our square footage which will expand our collection capacity, provide an accessible meeting room, and allow us to host more events which will benefit everyone in our community. Additionally, because we participate in Iowa’s Open Access Program, you do not have to be a Janesville resident to use our materials or participate in programs.

We have met our initial fundraising goal of $532,000 with immense community support in the form of financial and in-kind donations, local and state-wide grants. As with all projects, costs have gone up in the process and additional needs have been identified, our goal is to raise at least  $15,000 dollars this summer before our grand opening in the fall. Can you help us reach this new goal? We continue to have donor recognition opportunities on our donor tree which will be on display in the entry vestibule of the new building, along with room sponsorships.

Along with financial donations directly to the library we have also set up an Amazon wish list full of craft and office supplies, items to stock our children's and teen spaces, and board games to build up a game collection in the library. We also happily take gently used puzzles, board games and craft supplies that you may no longer have a need for.
